The 8×50mmR Lebel (8mm Lebel) rifle cartridge was the first smokeless powder cartridge to be made and adopted by any country.
It was introduced by France in 1886.
The 8x50Rmm Lebel was kept in service from 1886 until the last Berthier carbine and Hotchkiss Mle 1914 machine guns were retired from reserve and Gendarme arsenals in the 1990s.
These inert rounds are fitted with dummy primers and are all dated 1948 on the headstamp and are seated in a 2nd pattern Model 1916 Berthier En-bloc clip
