Antique Majolica Platter
Made by Wardle & Co
The design is called Bamboo and Fern
It measures 34cm (13 ¼ inches) from side to side and 28cm (11 inches) top to bottom.
No chips or crack to the top of the item.
To the underside there are two chips to the rim.
It has a date lozenge mark to the base which dates the item precisely
Starting at the top – iv this is the class. Below the number 17 is the day. To the right of the diamond it looks like an X which would date it 1868. The bottom of the diamond is B this is for the month of October. The left of the diamond is 5 and this is the batch number. So 17 October 1868.
No crazing. The two chips as mentioned and shown in the photos.
Nice decorative item.
All items that I sell are used unless specified to the contrary and will therefore have ware indicative of age and use.
Photographs are of the actual item and do form part of description in the event that I have missed something in the main part of the item specifics.
