Authentic WWI Trench Art Pocket Lighter – 1918

This authentic World War I trench art pocket petrol lighter is masterfully constructed from a solid brass hexagonal nut frame and features two British coins forming the fuel walls.

Obverse Side: Profiles the face of King George V with clear, legible Latin inscriptions (GEORGIVS V D.G. BRITT:OMN:REX F.D. IND:IMP).

Reverse Side: Features the classic seated figure of Lady Britannia, prominently displaying the strike date of 1918—the final year of the First World War.

Unlike many decorative trench art pieces, this lighter remains in exceptional mechanical condition.

The original knurled spark wheel spins completely freely with smooth rotation.

The original top brass cap unscrews perfectly to reveal the wick chamber.

Both original slotted base plugs turn smoothly and sit flush.

The small screw safely removes to reveal the flint tube and spring assembly; the large screw opens cleanly for fuel filling.

Features a stunning, uncleaned, natural aged patina that highlights its battlefield heritage and antique appeal.

No stripped threads or structural damage though the faces of the coin are worn and rubbed due to many years of handling.

The internal wick is intact but sitting low so will need to be pulled through or replaced.

When done, it simply requires a fresh flint and lighter fluid to be brought back into full working order.
