The ARP (Air Raid Precautions) whistle was a standard-issue, nickel-plated brass whistle used by British Civil Defence wardens during World War II to warn the public of air raids, gas attacks, and to signal for assistance.
Manufactured primarily by J. Hudson & Co. in Birmingham, these 3-inch whistles produced a distinct two-tone screech heard up to a mile away.
Used by air raid wardens during the Blitz to manage crowds, direct people to shelters, and communicate warnings.
Long blasts often meant imminent air raids, while short blasts signaled incendiary device drops.
In a very good condition.
Length 82mm.
