An authentic, original Cold War-era French military Modèle 1978 (F1) steel combat helmet.
This is an early production Series 1 model, dated 1986, complete with its original field configuration.
Perfect for Cold War military collectors, helmet enthusiasts, or historical re-enactors.
A Series 1 model featuring the highly sought-after 3-point canvas suspension chinstrap with original metal friction-sliding adjustment buckles (pre-dating the later Velcro modifications).
Dated 1986 and manufactured by Dunois (Cousance, France), a primary Cold War contract manufacturer for the French military.
Includes the standard issue French Camouflage Centre-Europe (CCE) cloth cover, securely held in place by the original thick black rubber edge-tension rim band.
Excellent overall surplus/field-used condition.
The interior manganese steel dome is exceptionally clean, with the factory stamp fully intact and perfectly legible although it has been marked with the original owners name in black marker.
The original brown leather flower-shaped crown pad remains flexible and intact with minimal wear.
The canvas chinstraps and metal hardware function smoothly.
The exterior cloth CCE camo cover shows authentic light field character (minimal scuffs/nicking to fabric consistent with military service) but has no major tears.
The rubber rim band remains tight and securely grips the shell.
