Size approx 5cm x 4.5cm.
This formation badge was adopted shortly after the occupation of the British Zone of Berlin in 1945 by the 7th Armoured Division and attached troops for the Administrative HQ of the British sector.
Legend has it that it was used to denote the city of Berlin, encircled by the Soviets occupying East Germany.
Post war the badge consisted of just the red circle on the black background, then in 1952 the word BERLIN was added.
