Cold War Era Soviet Guards Badge (Знак «Гвардия») - circa 1970s–1980s

An original Soviet Guards Badge (Знак «Гвардия») dating from the late Cold War era (circa 1970s–1980s).

This historic insignia was awarded to personnel serving within elite, battle-honoured "Guards" units of the Soviet Armed Forces.

Features the classic rippling Red Banner at the top emblazoned with the Cyrillic text "ГВАРДИЯ" (Guards), a central red star on a white field, all encircled by a golden laurel victory wreath with the "СССР" (USSR) cartouche at the base.

The reverse features the correct late-era lightweight construction with the standard horizontal safety-pin fastening mechanism secured by two rivets.

It is in a good vintage condition with minor surface wear, light age-related patina, and faint scuffing to the enamel highlights consistent with age and military surplus storage.

The pin mechanism on the reverse is fully intact and functions perfectly.
