Inert WW1 1916 British No.5 MK 1 Mills Grenade (Mills Bomb)

"Mills bomb" is the popular name for a series of British hand grenades which were designed by William Mills.

They were the first modern fragmentation grenades used by the British Army and saw widespread use in the First and Second World Wars.

The No. 5 Mk 1 was the first version.

It was issued in May 1915 and entered general issue when mass production caught up a year later in 1916.

 This grenade was manufactured in May 1916 by C.A.Vandervell & Co.

It is in overall good condition with minor age related wear but does have a replacement ring and pin.
