With the cancellation of Operation Sealion in 1940, defence planners feared a resumption of Hitler’s invasion plan in summer 1941.

This slip leaflet, dating from July 1941, advised drivers how to immobilise their cars in the event of an invasion.

These instructions were first introduced as part of a wider civil defense review in early 1941.

During the war, immobilisation regulations were strictly enforced. For example, leaving an unattended car unlocked or failing to secure it could lead to legal penalties.

This slip is a rare little item and is in an overall very good condition with some slight signs of foxing.
