 Original WW1 Victory Medal

This medal was award to Elfrida L Baldwin of the Voluntary Aid Detachment and is in an overall very good condition.

The Voluntary Aid Detachment (VAD), formed in 1909, was a network of unpaid volunteers who provided crucial support to the British Red Cross and the Order of St. John during World War I.

VADs played a vital role in providing humanitarian aid to naval and military forces, including nursing, transport, and organizing rest stations and hospitals.

They were made up of women and men who took on various roles, including nursing, cooking, driving, and serving as orderlies.
