An authentic, original British Home Front Fire Guard armband, introduced during the 1943 reorganisation of the Civil Defence services.
This variant features the late-war authorised bold white lettering screen-printed onto a dark navy blue cotton cloth background, replacing the earlier yellow-lettered ARP variants.
It features bold screen-printed block text on a heavy, durable indigo cotton twill fabric.
The top and bottom edges are neatly finished with dark blue fabric piping to prevent fraying.
The inside lining features the definitive, uniform white stencil ink bleed-through (reading backwards as "DRAUG ERIF"), confirming this is a genuine period screen-print and not a modern vinyl reproduction.
In an overall very good condition with just some slight staining in places.
The fabric remains strong with vivid ink colour.
