Original WWII German Hitler Youth Sharpshooter Badge (HJ-Scharfschützen-Abzeichen)

 Original WWII German Hitler Youth Sharpshooter Badge (HJ-Scharfschützen-Abzeichen).

The badge was instituted in 1938 by Reich Youth Leader Baldur von Schirach to encourage proficiency with firearms as part of pre-military training.

To earn the Sharpshooter level, a member had to already hold the basic Marksman Badge and pass a rigorous 10-shot target protocol.

Testing included small-bore .22 caliber rifle shooting across prone (supported and unsupported), kneeling, standing, and rapid-fire disciplines.

The edge of the badge is bordered by a silver oak leaf wreath.

This wreath distinguishes the Sharpshooter rank from the basic Marksman Badge (which has a plain border) and the Master Shooter Badge (which features a gold wreath).

The badge is in an overall good uncleaned condition with good detail to the front.

Reverse of the badge is marked with embossed manufacturers code, “M1/102” indicating manufacture by Frank & Reif Stuttgart. 

Badge is also complete with its original combined pin and catch assembly intact to reverse. .
