An original, period-authentic World War II U.S. Army Overseas Service Bar patch.

This patch features six gold-colored embroidered horizontal bars on a standard olive drab / brown wool backing.

The reverse side features the classic, era-correct white cheesecloth (crinoline) mesh stabilizer, displaying the authentic bobbin thread work expected of true mid-20th-century military manufacturing.

In the U.S. military, Overseas Service Bars are used to officially display a soldier's cumulative time served in a designated combat theater abroad.

During World War II, each single bar represented exactly 6 months of active duty overseas.

Because this specific patch features six bars, it proudly denotes 3 full years (36 months) of overseas combat zone service by the veteran who wore it.

It was traditionally sewn onto the lower sleeve of the Class A service uniform jacket.

The patch is in excellent vintage condition.

The embroidery remains vibrant, and the wool backing is fully intact with no major moth damage, fraying, or tears.

The photographs are of the actual item and form part of the description.
