These specialised historical pieces were handcrafted by soldiers or artisans during World War 1 using up-cycled, tapered brass artillery shell fuse covers or nose cones.
The front features an applied brass Royal Regiment of Artillery Tunic Button, depicting a field gun/cannon topped by the Kings Crown.
Soldiers cut and brazed the brass casing, adding a curved metal tab on the lip to serve as a cigarette or cigar rest.
Due to their unique dual-shape, these items occasionally functioned alternatively as egg cups or small desk tidies.
They are in a good antique condition with a beautiful, uncleaned natural aged patina.
An excellent, tactile piece of Great War history for any militaria, trench art, or tobacciana collector..
