This is an excellent example of a full-length British military drill cane carried by a cadet or officer within the prestigious Oxford University contingent of the Officers' Training Corps.
The cane features a beautifully detailed, embossed white metal cap showcasing the traditional Oxford University coat of arms shield (the open book flanked by three crowns), uniquely surmounted by a scrolled banner boldly stamped "O.T.C.".
Unlike the more common 24-inch under-arm swagger sticks, this scarce example measures a full 34 inches, identifying it strictly as a drill or regimental walking out cane used during formal ground movements, marching practice, and off-duty parade dress.
The shaft is constructed from genuine, lightweight Malacca cane, retaining a beautiful rich patina and its natural graining.
The base of the cane is fitted with its original brass ferrule collar, which shows a handsome, honest tarnishing from age.
In very good antique, field-used condition.
The white metal top is firmly fixed with no major dents, retaining crisp detail to the Oxford crest.
The Malacca shaft remains strong with only a very slight curve and minor surface scrapes consistent with age.
The bottom brass ferrule shows expected wear and loss to its original bright plating, beautifully confirming its 110+ year history.
