Scarce Victorian Patinated Bronze "Go to Bed" Bear / Match safe It stands 7.5cm tall. It has a hinged head to store matched and there is a hole in the top of the staff to insert the lighted match. The idea was that the lighted match on the mantelpiece would burn for some 30 seconds — just long enough for the person to snuff out the candle and get into bed. It has the original glass eyes. There is damage to the hinge. A section of it is missing and although the hinge works it can easily be detached. Please see photos.
