An exceptionally clean, authentic, and crisply marked British Indian Army Pattern 1908 India Pattern (IP '08) Cavalry Trooper's Sword, complete with its original matching steel scabbard.
Manufactured by the highly revered Wilkinson Sword Company at their premier London workshops, this piece represents the pinnacle of WWI-era cavalry weapon engineering.
It has a straight, single-edged, high-rigidity thrusting blade measuring approximately 34.5 inches.
The steel remains exceptionally bright and clean.
It is marked to the ricassoo one side with deep, sharp stamps including the production/inspection date "5 '19" (May 1919) and official Crown/Government acceptance stamps.
On the opposite ricasso it is distinctly stamped with the prestigious "WILKINSON PALL MALL" retail signature alongside the official "X" bend-test pass mark and the British Broad Arrow government property stamp.
The spine is stamped "IP 08" designating the India Pattern 1908.
The deep, protective sheet-steel bowl guard is unique to the 1908 pattern and it is stamped on the lower interior edge with matching "WSC" (Wilkinson Sword Co.) and Broad Arrow proofs.
The black chequered ergonomic pistol grip remains in very good, solid condition and below the guard is its original, completely intact brown leather hilt buffer washer.
The sword comes with its original matching steel scabbard with twin hanging rings.
The sword is in overall very good to excellent antique condition.
The blade steel is bright with incredibly crisp factory stamped details.
The scabbard shows some honest, minor historical surface pitting consistent with its age and field deployment, but remains structurally robust with no holes or major structural degradation.
The hilt assembly is completely tight and solid.
