A Dutch large Galleon Spoon
The spoon measures about 20cm long
The bowl is 5cm wide.
The weight is 40.5g
It has a large Galleon finial.
Further down the stem there is a cherubs head
In the bowl there is a design of farmer, cows and trees
Very unusual and truely stunning item.
There are dutch hallmarks which are a lion passant with a z under in a hexagon, the letter P in a circle, there is another mark which looks to be conjoined BWE, these marks are in the bowl of the spoon.
There is a minerva mark in the gallion with an I next to it.
The lion passant mark is silver purity or standard = .833. The Minerva head is the duty mark. The letter P dates the item to 1925.
The makers mark is below.
Hollandia Zilversmedererij (B.W. van Eldrik), Zuthpen, 1917-1950
