Victorian Border Regiment Other Ranks Helmet Plate Centre Badge Imperial 1881

A Victorian / Edwardian era British Army Other Ranks (OR) Helmet Plate Centre (HPC) for the Border Regiment (formed in 1881).

This is a beautiful die-stamped white metal example featuring excellent crisp details. 

Featuring an eight-pointed star overlaid with a Maltese cross, surrounded by a laurel wreath.

The central ring features the regiment's famous battle honour "Arroyo dos Molinos 1811" and contains the Chinese Dragon superscribed "CHINA".

Additional Peninsular War and Crimean War battle honours are clearly legible across the arms of the cross.

The reverse displays the authentic raw, textured mirror-back finish from the historical stamping process. Complete with two original East-West lugs securely attached for helmet mounting.

Size: approx 2 inches x 2 inches (approx. 51mm x 51mm).
