A vintage Queens Crown Bronzed Brass Royal Marines Cap Badge manufactured by J. R. Gaunt London and dating between 1953 - 1964.
We can confidently date this badge as in 1964, a massive shift occurred at the manufacturer's level.
According to J.R. Gaunt company archival records, 1964 marked the point where the company majorly restructured its insignia production.
Following this window, the plain "GAUNT LONDON" stamp on heavy struck metals was widely phased out in favour of the "J.R. GAUNT B'HAM"(Birmingham) mark, and production turned heavily toward lightweight anodised "Staybrite" aluminium instead of traditional bronzed brass.
This badge is in a very good condition with its original lugs and pin to the rear.
The photographs are of the actual item and form part of the description.
