A lovely pair of World War I campaign medals awarded to Private B. B. Butcher of the Army Service Corps (Mechanical Transport Section) and a matching, premium-quality miniature set tailored by a renowned Royal Warrant holder
"THE G. & S. CO. 112 REGENT ST. LONDON" (The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company).
The "M2" service number prefix confirms that Private Butcher served in the highly technical Mechanical Transport Section of the Army Service Corps (Kitchener's New Army allocation).
Rather than horse-drawn logistics, M2 personnel were skilled mechanics, electricians, and lorry drivers responsible for the grueling task of keeping early motorised supply trucks, ambulances, and workshop vehicles operational under active combat conditions.
The medals are in a good uncleaned condition with the rim of the medals nicely stamped with the recipients details.
