WW1 The 1st Kings Dragoon Guards Cap Badge.
Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria-Hungary was the Colonel of this regiment from 1896 to 1914 (his tenure ceasing with the outbreak of war), and the regiment wore his personal arms (The Hapsburg Eagle) as a brass badge, until anti-Austrian feeling saw it replaced with the bimetal star badge in 1915.
This badge was worn by the regiment until 1938 when the eagle was restored.
In a very good used condition.
Bimetal with slider to the rear, stamped J. R. Gaunt B.Ham.
