An authentic, mid-20th-century British Army General Service Corps (GSC) cap badge, featuring the iconic Royal Coat of Arms configuration under a Tudor (King's) Crown.

This specific piece is highly collectable due to the clear, well-struck manufacturer's mark on the reverse.

It features an integrated rectangular cartouche reading "J.R. GAUNT / LONDON", a signature die-stamped tablet style used extensively by Gaunt during the First and Second World Wars.

The front of the insignia displays excellent crispness, showing the detailed quarters of the Royal Shield, the Lion and Unicorn supporters, and the classic motto bands: "Honi soit qui mal y pense" around the central garter, and "Dieu et mon droit" along the lower banner.

The badge retains a beautiful, untouched dark golden-brown mellow patina.

There are entirely natural traces of green verdigris in the tight recesses on the reverse, verifying its authentic age and long-term storage history.

Both original, thick copper wire lugs (loops) are present, fully intact, and structurally sound.

They show correct period brazed footings to the reverse of the badge body, with no signs of modern lead re-soldering or repair.

The photographs are of the actual item and form part of the description.
