This is an authentic, original period die-struck cap badge for The Fort Garry Horse, a distinguished Canadian armoured regiment based out of Winnipeg, Manitoba.

The badge’s design features a striking bi-metal construction: a sharp white-metal depiction of the historic Upper Fort Garry gatehouse (the famous Hudson’s Bay Company trading fort) superimposed over a detailed copper-bronze Canadian maple leaf.

A sweeping scroll underneath carries the regimental title.

During WWI, the regiment served with distinction as cavalry in France and Flanders (notably at Cambrai).

In WWII, they converted to armour as the 10th Armoured Regiment, famously launching onto Juno Beach on D-Day and fighting through Northwest Europe to liberate the Netherlands.

This badge is in a very good condition with sharp details remaining on the gatehouse brickwork and maple leaf veins.

Bi-Metal with slider to the rear.

The slider is clearly marked with the manufacturer "J.R. Gaunt B’Ham".

Gaunt produced badges for the regiment between 1914 - 1945.
