WW2 Canadian 7th Reconnaissance Regiment (17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars) Cap Badge

An original World War II-era die-stamped brass cap badge for the 17th Duke of York's Royal Canadian Hussars.

During the Second World War, this historic Montreal-based regiment was mechanised and designated as the 7th Canadian Reconnaissance Regiment, serving as the essential "eyes and ears" of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division.

This unit is highly regarded by Commonwealth collectors for its significant role in the invasion of Europe.

Elements of the regiment landed on Juno Beach on D-Day (6th June 1944), subsequently fighting their way through the brutal battles of Normandy, the clearing of the Channel Ports, and into Northwest Europe.

The badge features the classic White Rose of York inside the Garter belt bearing the motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense", framed by Canadian maple leaves, the Roman numerals 'XVII', and topped with the wartime Tudor (King's) Crown. 

Features a beautiful, untouched dark honey patina. Has not been aggressively cleaned or polished, preserving its historic character.
