WW2 Luftwaffe AK39 Pilots Wrist Compass - 2nd Model.

The AK39 compass is a specific model of a liquid-filled German Luftwaffe pilot's wrist compass used during World War 2.

The "AK" stands for Armband-Kompass (wrist compass), and "39" refers to its year of introduction, 1939.

It was standard issue for German pilots and aircrew for navigation, particularly if they had to bail out or make an emergency landing in unfamiliar territory.

While designed as a wrist compass, it came with a long leather strap to allow it to be worn over the cuff of a flying suit or attached to other flight equipment like a life vest.

The primary manufacturer was the Kadlec Instrumentenfabrik of Prague, Czechoslovakia, which was under German occupation at the time.

This particular compass is the 2nd variant (Fl 23235-1). A partly white model that included rifle-type sighting aids and rotating disc for setting a course.

It is in good working order and a very good condition.
