WWI era George V Army Remount Service Cap Badge.
The Army Remount Service was established in 1887 to manage the purchasing and training of horses and mules en masse for the British military.
During World War I, its responsibilities expanded exponentially.
The unit grew from roughly 1,200 animals in 1914 to a peak of nearly 870,000 horses and mules by 1917 to sustain transport, logistics, and cavalry needs
The service became part of the Army Veterinary and Remount Service in 1942 before eventually phasing out due to military mechanization.
This badge is in a very good used condition.
Bi-metal with slider to the rear.
