WWII Canadian Grenadier Guards Cap Badge

An authentic Second World War period brass cap badge to the Canadian Grenadier Guards (CGG).

Mobilised in Montreal in May 1940, the Canadian Grenadier Guards initially served as infantry before undergoing a major tactical transition in January 1942, when they converted to armour.

Redesignated as the 22nd Armoured Regiment (Canadian Grenadier Guards), the unit deployed to the United Kingdom in September 1942 as part of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division.

Landing in France in late July 1944, the regiment fought with distinction across Northwest Europe.

They played a critical, heavily engaged role in the Battle of the Falaise Pocket (notably at Hill 195 and the closing of the gap), before advancing through France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

The unit finished the war pushing deep into Germany, amassing a legendary combat record as a spearhead armoured formation

This badge is in an overall good condition with a slight dink to the right hand side.
