A WWII Era Canadian Queen's Own Rifles (QOR) Cap Badge - 2nd Battalion.
During World War II, The Queen’s Own Rifles of Canada (QOR) served as an elite frontline infantry battalion.
Mobilised in June 1940, they deployed overseas to the United Kingdom as part of the 8th Infantry Brigade, 3rd Canadian Infantry Division.
As part of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Division, the regiment was a vital frontline force.
They spearheaded the assault on Juno Beach on D-Day, liberated parts of France and Holland, and pushed into Germany.
They achieved the farthest inland advance on D-Day, earned a Victoria Cross (Sergeant Aubrey Cosens - the battle of Mooshof, Germany), and suffered 463 fatal combat casualties by the war's end.
