DLRG stands for Deutsche Lebens-Rettungs-Gesellschaft (German Life Saving Association), which was originally founded in 1913.
It is the largest voluntary water rescue organization in the world.
This particular style with a woven black eagle perched on a green rocky mound overlooking blue water waves was utilized extensively during the 1930s and 1940s.
During the Third Reich, passing lifesaving tests and wearing these badges on swimwear or athletic jerseys was treated as an important civic accomplishment
In a good used condition, measuring approx 80mm across.
