An authentic World War II-era Mitgliedsbuch belonging to the Deutsche Arbeitsfront (DAF – German Labor Front).

The DAF was the state-controlled monopoly labor organization established in 1933 following the mandatory dissolution of all independent German trade unions.

This document serves as a historical workforce tracking artifact from the Home Front period.

The booklet is fully named and registered in original period ink script and includes the following detials:

  • Member's Name: Josef Balke
  • Trade / Profession: Maurer (Bricklayer / Mason)
  • Date & Place of Birth: September 11, 1890, in Berlin-Friedenau (features a period-applied paper address correction slip pasted on page 2)
  • Enrollment Date: September 1, 1936
  • Regional Branch Office: Gauverwaltung Westfalen-Nord (Admin Office: 37. Brakel)

The booklet also includes the following information:

  • Page 4-5: Validated with the handwritten ink signature of Josef Balke alongside a sharp purple regional DAF administrative stamp.
  • Dues Verification Pages (1938): Columns of color-coded weekly dues stamps (Beitragsmarken) pasted in and officially canceled out via overlapping circular regional ink markings.
  • Wartime Record Pages (1944): Late-war serialized orange premium stamps alongside a large blue administrative consolidation stamp dated June 15, 1944, showing the wartime shift to centralized tracking cards.
  • Slogans & Prints: Contains printed propaganda quotes from Adolf Hitler and DAF Reich Leader Dr. Robert Ley, alongside a list of state-mandated worker newspapers on page 32.

The booklet is completely intact with all 32-pages and its original red marbled stiff card cover with a textured cloth spine.

The gold-gilt embossed front emblem remains crisp and defined.

Internal pages display standard toning, light foxing, and expected signs of handling commensurate with age.

Binding remains solid and secure.

It measures 152mm x 108mm.
