An authentic, double-sided World War II home-front document summoning a civilian female resident to mandatory civil air defence training.
Issued by the regional branch of the Reichsluftschutzbund in Ebersberg near Munich, this postcard serves as an excellent example of late-war civilian mobilization and the legal obligations placed on female "lay helpers" (Laienhelferinnen).
The front features formal printed Gothic script outlining the legal mandate for air raid protection under the Reich Air Protection Laws of 1935 and 1937.
It orders attendance at a refresher training course (Wiederholungskurs).
Held at the LS-Schule (Luftschutz Schule) inside the Zorneding Municipal Office (Gemeindekanzlei).
Classes were held in the evenings from 7:30 PM to 9:45 PM.
The front also features printed authorisation names for the local Landrat and the OrtsgruppenführerOfficial and the formal the ink stamp of the Reichsluftschutzbund - Gemeindegruppe Kirchseeon.
The reverse is addressed directly to Frl. Theres Albrecht in Zorneding
It features two distinct blue, star-shaped ink verification stamps confirming attendance on 27. JAN. 1943 and 28. JAN. 1943, and a later pencil annotation dated 24.12.44 (Christmas Eve, 1944), indicating the document was reused or noted for the recipient’s service record into the final winter of the war.
Also on the rear is an Employer Warning which includes legal text instructing employers that they are mandated by law to provide paid time off for this training.
The card measures 150mm x 106mm and is in an overall good condition for its age with some minor staining and creasing.
