WWII The Royal Regiment of Canada OR's Cap Badge

An authentic, World War II-era Other Ranks (OR) bi-metal cap badge for The Royal Regiment of Canada.  

The Royal Regiment of Canada (2nd Canadian Infantry Division) mobilised for active service on 1st September 1939.

 The unit went on to secure a legendary and poignant place in Commonwealth military history:

The Dieppe Raid (Operation Jubilee) – 19th August 1942:

The regiment spearheaded the amphibious assault on 'Blue Beach' at Puys, France. Tasked with neutralising cliff-top naval guns, navigational delays exposed the men to deadly, pre-dawn crossfire.

The unit suffered catastrophic casualties; out of 556 personnel who landed, over 200 were killed in action and 264 were taken as Prisoners of War (POWs).

Redemption & The Battle of Normandy – July 1944:

Rebuilt in England, the regiment returned to France after D-Day, fighting tenaciously through the Normandy campaign to clear German resistance at Bourguébus Ridge, Falaise, and the brutal slopes of Verrières Ridge.

The Scheldt & Rhineland – Late 1944 to 1945:

The regiment cleared the flooded, heavily fortified terrain of the Scheldt estuary to open up the port of Antwerp.

They later pushed deep into Germany through the Hochwald Forest before assisting in the final liberation of the Netherlands.

This badge is in an overall very good condition.
